The process is the same whichever service you need. We quote before any work starts, and every change we make is tracked, so nothing happens to your document that you can’t see and reverse.

Tell us about the document
What it is, what it has to do, and when you need it. Use the form on the home page or email hello@refineryediting.com. A partial draft or an outline is fine, and so is a messy one.
We agree the scope with you
If what you’ve asked for isn’t the right service, we’ll say so. You know what the document has to do and we know what the writing needs, so the quote comes out of that conversation rather than out of a word count.
You get a quote before anything starts
We bill hourly at our standard rates, and you owe nothing until you’ve accepted the quote. Once your payment clears, we hold your place in the schedule.
We match you with the right editor
Someone with the background for your subject and your kind of document. Medical, legal, and technical content goes to a specialist.
We edit in Word, with tracked changes
Every change is visible and reversible, with a margin comment wherever there’s a decision only you can make.
You get it back by the agreed deadline
The file comes with the tracked changes and comments in place, and questions after delivery are welcome.
After delivery
Reviewing the edits and answering the comments is part of the process, so we don’t send clean copies with everything accepted. Small follow-up changes are reviewed at no charge; a substantial revision is quoted as a further round.
If your team sends work in throughout the year, a group account helps minimize the admin, at the same rates.
